Steak Kabobs

Grab some wooden skewers and soak them for about an hour. This will help prevent your skewers from catching on fire when they hit the hot grill.

Where do you find kakbob skewers? At the grocery store in the baking and utensils aisle.

Pour half a cup of soy sauce into a bowl.

Now add a tablespoon of hoisin sauce to that bowl.

What is hoisin sauce? It’s a Chinese BBQ sauce that is also great to use in stir frys. The flavor is strong so a tablespoon should be more than enough!

Now mix in 2 heaping tablespoons of brown sugar…

and a few cloves of chopped garlic.

Add a touch of pepper, (no need for salt, the soy sauce is salty enough!)

and a few tablespoons of olive oil.

To finish this off I like to add a bit of citrus to the marinade. I had some fresh limes handy so that’s what I used, but a lemon or even some orange juice would taste just as great!

Whisk, whisk, whisk, and don’t forget to taste it!

Now place your meat and marinade into a ziplock bag for about an hour.
I used stew meat for this. It was on sale and it’s already cut up into nice little chunks. A lean sirloin would work great too!

Now for the veggies. Cut up some mushrooms…

and a few bell peppers.

Try to keep your veggies on the bigger side. Not so big that they take over your kabob, but not so small that they burn before the meat is done.

Drizzle your veggies with just touch of olive oil & season them with some salt and pepper.

Assembly time!

Now you can ask who wants what on their kakbob. Or you can be mean like me and tell everybody they get what they get and to not throw a fit!

I’m pretty sure that is one of my favorite sayings.

Yes I know this post is about outside grilling. So why am I showing kakbobs on a grill pan?

1. I discovered we were out of charcoal & my husband wasn’t around to lite the grill. I’m such a girl I know.

2. Not everybody has a BBQ! So if you don’t have one, a grill pan will work just fine!

These took me about 7 minutes to grill over medium heat and I only had to flip them once.

Such a fun dinner and the possibilities are endless.
