Let’s start by browning 1 pound of turkey in a hot skillet.

Not a fan of ground turkey? Use beef!

When your turkey (or beef) is nice and brown drain it and add 1/2 of a white onion, chopped…

2 medium carrots, sliced…

And 1 green bell pepper, chopped.

If your thinking that this is a lot of veggies to put into a sloppy Joe, your right it is. But I promise, this sandwich won’t end up tasting like one big carrot!

Now add 2 cloves of garlic, minced…

1 can of diced tomatoes…

1 cup of ketchup…

1/2 cup of chicken broth…

1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce…

1 teaspoon of dijon mustard…

I’m a big fan of dijon, so I went ahead and added another teaspoon!

1 teaspoon of chili powder…

2 tablespoons of brown sugar…

A couple dashes of your favorite hot sauce…

And a bit if salt and pepper to taste.

Can you believe it, we’re done!

Let this skillet of wonderfulness simmer for just a bit.

Don’t forget to do a taste test!

How do you like your buns?

I like my buns cheddar cheesy and toasted!

(Insert silly “buns” joke here.)

Once your buns are ready, go ahead and start assembling this masterpiece of a sandwich!

You get to have BBQ on chips on the side!
