Funnel Cake

Let’s start our funnel cakes by pouring 1 1/2 cups of milk (whole, skim, raw, 2%, ect.) into a bowl…

Then add 2 whole eggs and 1 teaspoon of vanilla.

Go ahead and mix that together!

In a separate bowl combine 2 cups of all purpose flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 tablespoon of sugar.

Slowly combine your dry ingredients with your milk and eggs.

Mix this until a batter forms…

Then fold in 4 tablespoon of melted butter.

Heat 3 inches of vegetable oil in a large pot over medium to high heat. Transfer your batter to a squeeze bottle then carefully squeeze the batter into your hot oil. I made simple circles with my batter, but you can create super fancy designs with yours!

Cook your cake for about 2-3 minutes, or until it becomes golden brown…

Remove your funnel cake from the oil with tongs and allow it to drain on a few paper towels.

You can dress your funnel cake up with a bit of powdered sugar, cinnamon and sugar, chocolate sauce and ice cream…

Or with my personal favorite, strawberries and whipped cream!
