Let’s start by whisking together our flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cream of tartar in a medium sized bowl.

Now cut up 1/2 a cup of butter and 1/4 cup of very cold shortening…

Short on shortening? (Sorry, had to say it!) No problem, just use 1 1/2 sticks of cold butter instead!

Go ahead and throw your butter and shorting into the bowl and cut it into your flour mixture using a pastry blender until it resembles coarse crumbs.

Make a well in the center of this mixture and pour in 1 cup of milk.

Also add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese…

And two sprigs of minced fresh rosemary to this mix!

Stir this all together with a fork just until it come together…

Then using a spoon drop your dough into mounds onto a baking sheet.

Pop these tasty little heaps of butter and cheese into a 450 degree preheated oven for 10 – 12 minutes.

Fry an egg, pour a glass of o.j and breakfast is served! It just doesn’t get any simpler than that!
